The End of (this) Fitness Challenge April 21, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — brittdog @ 6:30 pm

I have now completed 12 really valuable weeks of my life (15, really… I started that diet parts 3 weeks early). For those of you not around me every day or have not read the fine print here for a while… I was on a 12 week fitness challenge with many of my fellow classmates in my agility class with Daisy Peel.

The final stats: I lost 30 #’s. I know I am running faster and the dogs are having more fun in agility. Today we talked about what we were going to eat… now that we could eat whatever we wanted. The best I could come up with was a hamburger… which I have been craving for two weeks now… but Daisy was going to have buttermilk pancakes….. yum! breakfast and a nap for me – cuz I would be in a sugar coma!

Next one will probably start after Memorial day and I will be signing up! I promised myself an IPod if I got through a second challenge and I need to keep up with this.

And although the rigor of keeping an on-line food journal and tracking my progress will not be critical… I will still maintain a good workout schedule at the “Y” and watch my food intake. I’d like to think I have altered my habits after this long go and I don’t want to go back to the way it was…. Besides! for the first time in my life I weigh less than my skinny brother! SNOW!!! It’s April! April 19, 2008

Filed under: staffordshire bull terrier, staffy bull — brittdog @ 9:19 am

oh yes…. this is what we woke up to today.

(I hate snow)

Today, Rowan is under the weather. I had to cancel going to the handling seminar with Daisy. I am so bummed. I will be able to get into the vet around 10:40 today… they wanted me to just drop her off…. ummm NO! She hates vets offices anyway. Why would I drop her off ALL DAY when she doesn’t feel well? I hope that this is the end of a GI virus taking it’s course. It’s been off and on all week.

I will go to the seminar later today – if they get me in at the vet soon enough  and I will go tomorrow.

Last Weekend – USDAA TRIAL

Rowan and I competed at the RAT USDAA trial in Elma with many of our friends. Rowan wasn’t feeling very well… and still isn’t but I hope to get that taken care of today at the vets office. We dropped a lot of bars in Grand Prix – which is not like her – and continued the trend in Steeplechase. I got her a massage and pulled her from her last run in Jumpers. Kelly said that she seemed to be sore in her hips and mid-back. I need to find her a chiropractor.

We did – despite not running our best – get our final leg for our AD title!!! That was a snooker Q we needed… and I didn’t get that on tape. Oh well. Here is our best run of the weekend – gamblers. She dropped two bars here but that was due to me queing her over the bar and accelerating… both things I need to work on in handling and training.

Cone update April 3, 2008

Filed under: Agility,dog agility,staffordshire bull terrier,staffy bull — brittdog @ 7:16 am

Quick update! Rowan is doing fine – but is still wearing the cone. She will until next Wednesday – but I think she is fine. The seed was tinier than I could have imagined! Geesch! But no surgery was needed just a local, microscopic glass wear and a dental tool – with a steady hand. Oh and did I mention the Specialist! Everything else looks A-OK with her eyes. I can’t wait to get back to agility – the course from last night look really challenging and fun. I hope to get the map and set up pieces.

Foreign Body

My grandfather passed away. I’m glad he did not have to be in the hospital too long – not even 24 hours. But I do wish I could have seen him. I go to Eastern WA for the funeral and family time this weekend.

Call you grandparents or parents! Tell them you love them.
